  • Excellent reflective properties
  • Easy to apply
  • Quick drying time

Applying a silver coat sealer, also known as a reflective roof coating, to a bitumen roof offers several advantages, especially in terms of protecting and extending the lifespan of the roof. Here are some of the key advantages:

  • Reflectivity: Silver coat sealers typically have high solar reflectance, meaning they reflect a significant portion of the sun's heat and light away from the roof surface. This reduces the amount of heat absorbed by the roof, helping to keep the building cooler and reducing the demand for air conditioning. As a result, reflective roof coatings can contribute to energy savings and lower cooling costs.

  • UV Protection: Silver coat sealers provide UV protection for the underlying bitumen membrane. UV radiation from the sun can cause degradation and premature aging of roofing materials, leading to cracks, brittleness, and reduced waterproofing effectiveness. By reflecting UV rays away from the roof surface, silver coat sealers help to prolong the life of the roof and maintain its integrity.

  • Waterproofing: In addition to providing reflectivity and UV protection, silver coat sealers also serve as a protective waterproofing barrier. They create a seamless, watertight membrane over the existing bitumen roof, helping to prevent water infiltration and leaks. This can help to preserve the structural integrity of the roof and the building below, reducing the risk of water damage and costly repairs.

  • Cooling Benefits: By reducing the amount of heat absorbed by the roof, silver coat sealers can help to mitigate the urban heat island effect in urban areas. This effect occurs when built-up areas absorb and retain heat, leading to higher temperatures. Reflective roof coatings can help to lower rooftop temperatures and contribute to a cooler urban environment.

  • Ease of Application: Silver coat sealers are typically easy to apply, requiring minimal preparation and specialized equipment. They can be rolled or sprayed onto the roof surface, providing a quick and cost-effective way to enhance roof performance and extend its lifespan.

  • Environmentally Friendly: Reflective roof coatings are considered environmentally friendly because they help to reduce energy consumption and lower carbon emissions associated with air conditioning. By keeping buildings cooler and reducing the need for mechanical cooling, silver coat sealers can contribute to a more sustainable built environment.

Overall, applying a silver coat sealer to a bitumen roof can provide numerous benefits, including improved energy efficiency, UV protection, waterproofing, and environmental sustainability. It's an effective way to enhance the performance and longevity of the roof while reducing maintenance and operating costs over time.

Personal protective equipment Required

Respiratory protection : In case of inadequate ventilation wear respiratory protection.
Respirator selection must be based on known or anticipated
exposure levels, the hazards of the product and the safe
working limits of the selected respirator.
organic vapor filter (Type A)
Hand protection : Chemical-resistant, impervious gloves complying with an
approved standard should be worn at all times when handling
chemical products if a risk assessment indicates this is necessary.
Follow AS/NZS 1337.1
Recommended: Butyl rubber/nitrile rubber gloves.
Contaminated gloves should be removed.
Eye protection : Safety glasses
Skin and body protection : Protective clothing (e.g. safety shoes, long-sleeved working
clothing, long trousers)
Follow AS 2210:3
Protective clothing needs to be made of cotton.
